Guaco is a calorie and nutrition tracking app. This policy explains what data the app handles and where it goes. The short version: your data stays on your device, we run no accounts and no analytics, and the only things that ever leave your phone are the meal photos or descriptions you ask the AI to analyze.
Your profile (age, gender, height, weight, activity level, goals), food log, water intake, weight history and achievements are stored locally on your device. We have no servers that store this data and no way to access it. Deleting the app deletes this data.
When you scan a meal photo or type a meal description, that photo or text is sent over an encrypted connection to our analysis service (hosted on Cloudflare), which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API to estimate the nutrition. We do not store your photos or descriptions. Anthropic processes them as a data processor and retains API inputs for a limited period (currently up to 30 days) for abuse prevention, per Anthropic's privacy policy. Photos are used only to produce your nutrition estimate — never for advertising or profiling.
When you scan a barcode or search foods by name, the barcode number or search text is sent to Open Food Facts, a public food database, to fetch nutrition data. No personal information is included.
If you enable Health sync, Guaco writes your meals, water and weight to Apple Health on your device. Guaco never reads data from Apple Health, and your Health data is governed by Apple's protections.
Purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Our analysis service temporarily processes your IP address for rate limiting and abuse prevention (standard Cloudflare infrastructure logs). These logs are not linked to any identity and expire automatically.
Guaco is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly process their data.
We may update this policy as the app evolves; the date above reflects the latest revision. Questions: luciteck@gmail.com.
